Rebuilding Athlead
Nearly 11 months ago, we acquired Athlead.
We knew from day one that it wasn't going to be a business we could simply step into and continue running as it was. Like any acquisition, it came with its own history - existing systems, operational challenges and customer experiences that had shaped how people viewed the brand.
One of the biggest realities of taking over an established business is that you inherit its reputation, whether you created it or not.
That meant earning trust all over again.
Some clubs and schools gave us that opportunity immediately. Others were understandably more cautious. We don't take either for granted.
Rather than trying to convince people that things were different, we made a decision early on that we'd simply prove it through our actions.
That has shaped almost everything we've done over the past year.

Building stronger foundations
Much of our first 11 months has happened behind the scenes.
We've rebuilt internal processes, expanded our manufacturing network, strengthened our leadership team, introduced new technology, increased our product offering and spent countless hours listening to our customers about what wasn't working.
Not because we wanted to become a different company overnight, but because we wanted to become a better partner over the long term.
The biggest lesson: Most organisations don't struggle with apparel.
They struggle with everything that surrounds it;
- Volunteer committees spending hours chasing orders.
- Parents asking where their uniform is.
- Limited visibility throughout the ordering process.
- Manual administration.
- Communication that creates more work instead of less.
Those conversations have fundamentally changed how we think about our role.
More than apparel
Today, we don't see ourselves as simply supplying uniforms.
We're building a business that helps sporting organisations and schools manage apparel, merchandise and member ordering more effectively.
That's why we've invested so heavily into KitOS™, our purpose-built platform designed specifically for community sport and education.
Rather than being just another online store, KitOS™ is designed to simplify the entire experience - from ordering and approvals through to communication, fulfilment and visibility for administrators.
It's about removing friction, not adding more technology for the sake of it.
A broader capability
Being part of the Hello Co. group has also allowed Athlead to grow beyond custom apparel.
Today our partners have access to promotional merchandise, traditional printing, embroidery, apparel decoration, warehousing, fulfilment and technology, all backed by one team.
That means we can solve more problems, create more opportunities and provide a far more complete service than we could have a year ago.
Looking ahead
We're proud of the progress we've made, but we also know that reputations aren't rebuilt through marketing.
They're rebuilt through consistency.
Through delivering what you promise.
Through owning mistakes when they happen.
Through making every partner's experience a little better than the last.
Our focus now is simple.
Continue bringing great organisations into the Athlead community.
Keep delivering for the partners who have trusted us.
Keep improving the systems that make life easier for volunteers, schools and sporting organisations.
And continue building a business that's known not for what Athlead used to be, but for what it's becoming.
